Red Cross Binary Series

I find the illustrations in the 1940 American Red Cross First Aid Text-Book to be profoundly endearing.   The people, always men, display a detachment that belies the seriousness of the injuries they portend to exhibit; on occasion you even see a smile. The 0’s and 1’s obscuring the image represent the 8 bit binary representation of the title of the work. The use of binary code places the 1940’s images in the context of today’s computer driven society.
